Expressions of Interest Sought for Appointment of Board Members

Limerick City and County Council (LCCC), as a key shareholder of Limerick Twenty Thirty DAC, Innovate Limerick DAC, and Discover Limerick DAC, is seeking expressions of interest from experienced and qualified individuals to join the boards of these companies.  These are voluntary, unpaid positions. As part of its commitment to enhancing skills and diversity on these boards, LCCC invites suitably qualified persons to engage in this process in line with the principles outlined in the Guidelines on Appointments to State Boards issued by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (November 2014). Recognising the importance of the rotation of company directors as a cornerstone of good governance, LCCC is committed to maintaining a balanced and refreshed composition of its boards.  

Limerick Twenty Thirty DAC ( https://limerick2030.ie/ ) is a special purpose development company established to spearhead transformative economic, social, and regeneration projects in Limerick. The company is central to delivering strategic objectives aligned with the Limerick 2030 Economic and Spatial Plan, advancing the city and region’s prosperity and sustainability.

Innovate Limerick DAC ( http://innovatelimerick.ie/ ) plays a critical role in supporting innovation, enterprise, and entrepreneurship in the Limerick region. By creating an ecosystem that supports business development, facilitates job creation, and enhances economic resilience, Innovate Limerick DAC is at the forefront of driving regional growth and innovation.

Discover Limerick DAC exists to: Operate and develop key tourism attractions in Limerick. Its role is to strengthen Limerick as a visitor destination and attract increased visitor numbers.  It does this by enhancing the visitor experience, planning investment and growth and promotion of the key attractions of King John’s Castle, Adare Heritage Centre, Lough Gur and by adding new proven attractions to its portfolio.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the leadership and strategic oversight of an organisation driving change across Limerick. The role of a Board Director carries significant responsibilities, including:
  • Providing governance, strategic guidance, and oversight.
  • Supporting the delivery of key projects and initiatives to meet the DAC’s objectives.
  • Promoting innovation, collaboration, and best practices to achieve regional development goals.
  • Championing collaboration between businesses, government, and educational institutions to create a thriving innovation ecosystem.
Expressions of interest are particularly sought from individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Corporate Governance
  • Trade, Investment and Economic Development
  • Finance and Investment
  • Urban Planning
  • Strategic Management & Change
  • Real Estate Finance & Asset Management
  • Property Development of Large-Scale Property Developments Including Residential and Commercial Expertise
  • Sustainable Construction
  • Legal, including Public Procurement Legislation and Processes
  • Business Development and Entrepreneurship
  • Audit & Risk
  • Human Resources
  • Innovation and Technology
  • Research and Development Collaboration
  • Tourism and Hospitality
  • Marketing and Branding
  • Cultural and Heritage Development

Interested individuals are invited to submit a written expression of interest, including:

  • A detailed CV highlighting relevant qualifications and experience.
  • A cover letter outlining your interest in the role, areas of expertise, and how you believe you can contribute to the strategic goals of Limerick Twenty Thirty DAC, Innovate Limerick or Discover Limerick DAC .

Selection Process

An Assessment Panel (the ‘Panel’) will be convened to consider and assess the expressions of interest received against the specific appointment criteria.  A short-list of candidates may be created and interviews undertaken, or any other selection or verification method deemed appropriate.

Subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Acts 2014, applications will be treated in strict confidence. All enquires, applications and all aspects of the proceedings are treated as strictly confidential and are not disclosed to anyone, outside those directly involved in that aspect of the process. Certain items of information, not specific to any individual, are extracted from computer records for general statistical purposes.
